Young Dolph Update
A day after the death of Young Dolph, fans have been stopping at the scene of the shooting, leaving memorials and remembering the popular Memphis rapper. Young Dolph whose real name is Adolph Robert Thornton, was shot around 12:30 pm eastern at Makeda’s cookies in Memphis, TN. Where he was pronounced dead. Maurice Hill, the owner of the shop where the shooting happened, Makeda’s Butter Cookies, told news reporters his employees said Young Dolph, 36, walked into the store to buy cookies. Someone then drove up, shot and killed him at the South Memphis bakery.
Fans have been gathering at the shop, remembering the star as Memphis Police searched for answers. Many are leaving memorials, honoring Young Dolph for his generosity to the Mid-South community.
Memphis police department CJ Davis made this statement, "This shooting is another example of the senseless gun violence we are experiencing locally and nationwide. Our hearts go out to the Thornton family and all who are affected this horrific act of violence." Officials further stated no information about the suspect is available.

As the investigation continues, police have encouraged Memphis citizens to stay calm. "Tonight, we strongly encourage everyone to stay home if you do not have to be out," Davis said at a press conference Wednesday. "We also strongly encourage everyone to remain calm as we actively perform our investigation." Davis said investigators are still speaking with witnesses and are checking surveillance and security cameras in the area.
"We are committed to working with the community to stop the senseless murders," Davis said. "We're also dedicated to bringing those responsible for today's shooting and others to justice."
